Promotion & Demotion

This is only if you want to change the position within the same location. 

** NOTE: If you want to change the position AND location, it should not be done here. Instead, you should end the assignment and create a new one for this employee.


Promotion/Demotion Workflow:

  1. Go to Employment Management > Assignment management and search for the employee you want to promote or demote. 
  2. Click on the row of the employee so you can see their assignments.
  3. Click on the pencil edit icon next to the assignment you want to make the change to.
  4. Click on the pencil edit icon next to “Position”.

  • Select the type: promotion or demotion
  • Select a new position
  • Type in a new pay rate
  • Select the effective date
  1. Click submit.
  • if it doesn’t need approval → the change is automatically changed in the system and an email will automatically be sent to the employee with the new position, new pay rate and effective date.
  • if it does need approval → an email with the original position, new position, pay rate and effective date will be sent to the approver to approve or reject the position change.This will show in the audit with “pending” next it.


**Once the new position is in place, the old position will automatically create an end date (the day before the effective date), and a new row will appear with the new position.**
